Lois Abbie Fletcher

Lois Abbie Fletcher age 93 of Emily died on May 1, 2016 at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby. She was born on January 24, 1923 in Emily to Glenwood and Myrtle (Cenevert) Hite Sr. She married Stanley Fletcher on August 19, 1945. Lois attended grades 1-8 at the Emily Elementary School. She graduated from the Crosby-Ironton High School, class of 1940, Crosby-Ironton's teachers training in 1941. She graduated from UMD in 1955 with a BS degree in Elementary Education. She received her masters in Remedial Reading from St. Cloud State. She taught school for 30 years. Lois began teaching at the age of 18 in the Little Pine Country School with eight grades. Over the Years, she taught school in all the country schools around Emily, Fifty Lakes and Perry Lake. She taught one year in Tofte and taught twelve years as a reading consultant in the Crosby-Ironton Schools. Lois served as a director of the Young Missionary Workers Band for the Wesleyan Church in Marion, Indiana for 13 years. She is a member of the Wesleyan Church in Emily. Lois is survived by one son, Thomas Fletcher of St. Paul; two daughters, Sandra (Marlen) Bodle of Emily and Verlyn (Jack) Baker of Wilmington, NC; one sister, Lucile Cyr of Clyde, Kansas; nine grandchildren, twenty seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Preceding Lois in death are her parents; Husband, Stanley Fletcher; one son, David Fletcher; one granddaughter, Pamela Russell; 2 brothers, Glenwood Hite Jr., Ellis Hite and one sister, Dorothy Ratcliffe. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm on Monday, May 9, 2016 at the Wesleyan Church in Emily. Burial will be at the Pine Ridge Cemetery in Emily. Visitation will be two hours prior to the services at the church on Monday. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
