Lois Muriel Nelson

Lois Muriel Nelson age 90 of Ironton died on January 6, 2014 at her home. She was born on August 9, 1923 in Winthrop, MN to Vernon and Ellen (Olson) Nelson. Lois was a WWII Army nurse serving in the Philippines. She was a nursing supervisor at the University of Minnesota and the VA Hospital in Palo Alto, CA, she taught nursing at the University of Eau Claire, WI and Sheppard and Enoch Pratt Hospital in Towson, Maryland.
Survivors include a nephew, Ron (Karen) Nelson of Ironton; special friends, Warren Puelston of Edina and Lila Larson of Crosby; and several great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers, Neal and Raymond Nelson.
A memorial gathering will be held 1 pm on Wednesday at the Dellwood in Crosby. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis at a later date. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
