Lyle "Rocky" Valentino, age 59 of Aitkin passed away on April 10, 2013 at the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby. He was born February 23, 1954 in Crosby, MN to Reno and Beatrice (Mortiz) Valentino. Rocky enjoyed the great outdoors. You would find him fishing, four-wheeling, sledding and camping whenever possible. He graduated from Crosby-Ironton High School in 1972 and went on to attend Wadena Vo-Tech. Achieving a degree in Communications; working in this field for 40 years with United Telephone, Sprint, Embark, and CenturyLink. He was dedicated to the Crosby Fire Department for 24 years, serving as Chief for 12 years. He also served as a Crosby City council member. He is survived by his wife Sheila (Waby) of Aitkin, daughters Kristina (Tim) Millsop of Crosby, Tricia (Ken) Starzynski of Fountain, CO, two sons Joseph (Cate) Valentino of Navarre, FL and Derek Valentino of Aitkin; four granddaughters, Cassie, Kayla, Madyson, and Jordyan; mother Beatrice (Mortiz) Valentino of Crosby; brothers Dick (Sandy) of St.Paul, Ronnie(Sharon) of Indio, CA; sisters Lynn (Don) Valiquet of Crosby and Lee Ann (Devon)Russell of Crosby; and many great friends who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in-death by his father Reno and Sisters Lorna and Lisa (Hughes). Funeral services will be 11am Saturday, April 13, 2013 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Crosby. Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby. Friends may call at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby from 5 to 8 on Friday and 1 hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
