Mable F. Caddy Mable Fern Caddy age 96 of Crosby died on February 3, 2011 at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby. Mable was born January 29, 1915 in Farm Island Township, Aitkin County to Clifford and Alma (Duchane) Oppelt. She was the 4th oldest of a family of 10 children. She married William Ernest "Buster" Caddy on October 31, 1934. Three children were born to Buster and Mable, Marsha (Steve) Jelencich, Larry and William "Bill" Caddy all of the Crosby area. She is survived by her three children; six grandchildren, Todd and Troy Caddy, Chad and Stephanie Caddy, Debra (Floyd) Jensen and Kelly (Jeff) Klein; great granddaughters, Skylar Caddy, Kelsey Jensen and Gracesen Klein. and great grandson, Kellen Klein; sister, Lorna McDonald and brother, Frank Oppelt; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband William "Buster" in 1977; sisters, Arsalie Monson, Audrey Hogan, Jessie Abbott, Sara Bonneville, Ruth Lehrke and brothers, Bud and Glen Oppelt. Mable was a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, homemaker, painter, and wall paper hanger. She was an avid fisher woman, both summer and winter fishing. In the spring she loved to pick fiddle heads and asparagus. Her flower garden was her pride and joy. In the fall she enjoyed picking bittersweet and harvesting acorns for the DNR. She also loved picking berries of all kinds. The coffee pot was always on and Mable was happiest when she had a house full of family and friends and was frying fish. She was a member of the Myrin-James American Legion Auxiliary, the Aitkin VFW Auxiliary and the Crosby-Ironton Presbyterian Church, Crosby. Funeral services will be 11 am on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby. Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 6 pm and also 1 hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
