Margaret Harrison

July 12, 1928 — February 15, 2018

Margaret “Muggs” Butorac Harrison age 89 passed away peacefully at Edgewood Vista in Brainerd on Sunday, February 11, 2018.  Her days now have clarity after several years of battling dementia and Alzheimer’s.  Muggs was born on July 12, 1928 in Crosby to Marko and Anna (Addams) Butorac.

Muggs is survived by one son, Scott (Elizabeth) Harrison of Baxter; grandchildren, Jessamina (Craig) Blum of New Brighton, Joseph(Acala) Harrison of Baxter; four great grandchildren, Rocco, Mila, Vittoria Harrison, Giada Blum; three sisters, Fran Vidmar of Crosby, Elsie Skoff of St. Anthony; and Liz Formanek of Henning; one brother, Matt Butorac of Stambaugh, MI; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Muggs in death are her husband, Roger; son, Roger Jr.; two brothers, Joe and Frank Butorac; and two sisters, Mary Domeneich and Martha Miller.

During her 89 years Muggs had many adventures. They included hitchhiking from Sherwood Forest Lodge to Bar Harbor and dancing the night away with the help of the Glen Miller Orchestra.  She also lead the Crosby-Ironton Marching Band with her considerable baton twirling skills. With her husband, operated “The Spot” Drive-In in Crosby, where she became known for her famous Coney Islands. It was “The Spot” to eat!  Then came her real calling, growing and selling RoMar Wild Rice east of Emily.  With Mugg’s packaging skills and Roger’s growing skills they spent many years farming wild rice until they retired and moved to Crosby.

Many thanks to all who have known and loved Muggs; her family, Home Instead Healthcare, and especially the staff (family) at Edgewood Vista: We will always remember her baton twirling, polka dancing, beautiful singing with her sisters, harmonica playing and most of all, her infectious laughter.  She is now reunited with her husband and son.

A private graveside service will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby.  Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
