Marleys Jean (Shafer) Hicks

Marleys Jean (Shafer) Hicks, age 83 of Ironton died on December 9, 2023 at the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby.  She was born in Crosby on July 8, 1940 to Victor and Charline (Johnson) Oreskovich.

Marleys is survived by two sons, Steve (Jodi) Shafer of Lakeville and Rick (Terri) Shafer of Crosby; one daughter, Nikki (Kevin) Wassen of Crosby; two step sons, David (Ann) Hicks of Minnetonka and Rick Hicks of Apple Valley; step-daughter, Robyn Wagner of Maple Grove; two brothers, Kim Oreskovich of Trommald and Victor “Keith” Oreskovich of Aitkin; three sisters, Judith (David) Karnowski of New Brighton, Mardell Blom of Crosby and Sandra (John Freeman) of Deerwood; seventeen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Preceding Marleys in death are her parents; 1st husband Richard Shafer; 2nd husband David Hicks; and one brother, Richard “Chuck” Oreskovich.

Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby. Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday.
