Richard L. Raymond age 77 of Deerwood died at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on April 21, 2015 following a courageous battle with cardiac Amyloidosis. He was born March 7, 1938 in Crosby to Jesse and Edna (Sanderson) Raymond. He graduated from the Crosby-Ironton High School, class of 1956 and the Colorado School of Banking, Boulder, CO. Dick served in the U.S. Navy and the Minnesota National Guard. On August 20, 1960, he was united in marriage to Patricia A. Karlson at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd.
In 1968, Dick and Patti moved with their three children to Jamestown, ND where he worked for the Jamestown National Bank. He previously worked for Citizen's State Bank of Brainerd. The Raymond's transferred with the First Bank System to banks in Minnesota and both Dakotas. They retired to Deerwood in 1996.
Dick is a member of St Joseph's Catholic Church in Deerwood. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a Crow Wing County master gardener.
He is survived by daughters, Cynthia (Jay) Amundson, St. Paul, MN and Stephanie (Ross) Beckstrand, Cannon Falls, MN; son, Thomas (Laurel) Raymond, Deephaven, MN; nine grandchildren, Evan, Connor and Mackenzie, Benjamin, Madalyn, Miranda, Jolie, Brynn and Leah; one sister, Judy (Bob) Adams, Leadville, CO; one brother/cousin, Rodney (Coleen) Raymond, Deerwood; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Preceding Dick in death are his parents and his wife Patti.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Friday, May 1, 2015 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Crosby. Burial will be at the Scandia Cemetery in Deerwood with full military honors given by the Walter Scott Erickson American Legion Post #557, Deerwood. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 to 8 pm at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby with a rosary at 7 pm and also one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
