Richard Wayne Stangel

Richard W. “Rick” Stangel, age 75 of Emily died at his home on February 25, 2020.  He was born on June 1, 1944 in Brainerd to Darrel and Norma (Wolford) Stangel.  Rick married Maryetta Fletcher on July 1, 1966 in Emily.  He was an employee of Emily Greens Golf Club.  He loved the outdoors, camping, fishing and hunting.

Rick is survived by his wife, Maryetta; two sons, Don Stangel of Emily and Barry Stangel of Crosslake; one daughter, Tresa Stangel of Fairbanks, Alaska; one brother, Gene (Janice) Stangel of Crosby and one sister, Carol (Kenny) Helmers of Tipton, MO; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Preceding Rick in death are his parents; two brothers, Gary and Darrel Jr. Stangel and two sisters, Faye Burke and Joann Evenson.

A Memorial Gathering will be held at the Myrin-James American Legion Post in Ironton on Saturday, March 7, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Military honors will be presented at 4:30 p.m.  Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
