Robert Everett Austin

Robert “Bob” Austin, 91, passed away on November 27, 2025 at Heartwood Senior Living in Crosby MN. He was born in Crosby on October 7, 1934 to Leslie and Lois (Pritchard) Austin.

Bob was a Vietnam veteran, and an honorable retired U.S. Air Force Veteran with 20 years of service. Bob traveled extensively throughout his USAF career, with his family in tow. Following a short career as an American Family Insurance agent, Bob followed his passion for golf by working at the Ruttger’s Bay Lake Golf Courses alongside his cohort, Joe Simons for over 20 years. Bob’s tee shots were always laser straight and his legendary chipping led to many short one putts. He played countless rounds of golf year round. He could always be found with a book in hand as he was a literary enthusiast, with his favorites being westerns and mystery thrillers. Bob would challenge himself daily by completing the New York Times Crossword puzzle in record time. He enjoyed daily happy hours with an Early Times whiskey and coke. Splitting his time between Crosby in the summers and winters in Ocean Springs MS. He was known for his quick wit and humor… he loved to see you laugh. Even his doctors fell for his war story of having a hole in his ankle that whistled on windy days and he had to plug with a cork.

He is survived by his son Greg and daughter-in-law Cathy (a.k.a dr Cathy); son Chip and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Bob in death are his wife Lucille; his parents, Lois and Leslie; sisters Sylvia Heglund and Bernice Berg; brother Manny Austin, and special friend, Patty Skinner.

The Austin family would like to thank the staff at Heartwood Arbor and Moments Hospice for taking such wonderful care of Bob.

There will be a private burial at Lakewood Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
