Robert Eugene Hoffman

Robert "Rob" Eugene Hoffman, age 67 of Omaha, Nebraska and formerly of Crosby died on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at the St. Cloud Hospital after complications from cardiac arrest. Rob had been fighting leukemia and host vs. graft disease for 5 years.

Rob was born in Carroll, IA on June 5, 1946 to Eugene Vincent and Eleanor (Burns) Hoffman. He attended Carroll High School and studied History at Briar Cliffe College in Sioux City, IA.

He married Debbie Marlton on November 20, 1976 in Cambridge, MN. This union was blessed with three daughters: Abrey (Jeremy) Koop (grandchildren Ava and Holden) of Crosby; Marla Hoffman of Plymouth and Ally Hoffman of Crosby.

Rob specialized in the food and hospitality industry. He was a master chef and restaurant manager, he loved working around and for people. He could take a few ingredients and turn it into a feast "fit for a king." He was known for his chicken wild rice soup that was served at Lenten services for many years.

"Papa Rob" had a very close and special relationship with his granddaughter, Ava. He loved socializing, playing cards and dancing. He was an avid reader. Rob would drop everything at a moments notice to help out a friend or a family member. Rob was always truly interested in knowing how everyone was. He had a loud and very memorable laugh!

Rob is survived by his former wife Debbie; his three daughters and grandchildren; an older brother, James (Charlotte) Hoffman of Irving, TX; and older sister, Dorothy (Tom) Lanning of Omaha, NE; 3 nephews, one niece and their families and his friend and caregiver of recent years, Char.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one godson, Jaran Connor.

A funeral mass will be held 11 am on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Crosby. Friends may call 1 hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby,.
