Rodney Benedict Schloesser

Rodney Schloesser, of Outing, MN died 11/19/2024, just two months shy of his 90th birthday.

Preceding Rodney in death are his parents, John and Ida (Bauer); his cherished wife Patricia (Lenzmeier); his son Gary; brothers Stan, Ken, Brother Gus, O.S.C., Terry and Jack; sister Jerry; brothers-in-law Ray Pavlak and Keith Ford; sisters-in-law Ethel, Mary and Ina.

Rodney is survived by his sister, Doreen (Tom); sisters-in-law, Barbara and Deb; children, Fr. Steve, S.J., Kathy Davis,Ron (Kim); 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was a treasured husband, father, uncle, great\grandfather and godfather. Rod was a man of profound faith who was active in Catholic parishes throughout his life, both in the Twin Cities and in the Brainerd Lakes region, as well as a retreat captain for 20 years at King’s House in Buffalo, MN. He earned the rank of Staff Sergeant in the US Army while stationed at Ft.Carson, CO. He was a proud union member of the Steamfitters Pipefitters Local 455 in St. Paul for over 30 years; a member of the Outing township board for 15 years; a volunteer fireman and first responder; and a DNR conservation volunteer for many years.  In his spare time, he returned to his family farm roots, raising guinea hens and chickens, maintaining a small apple orchard for his honeybees, tapping his north woods trees for sap and making maple syrup for his friends. Rod will be remembered for his steadfast integrity and strong work ethic.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 13, 2024 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church,Crosslake. Visitation will be 1 hour prior at the church with a rosary at 10:30 am.  Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Saint Mary's ofMarystown Catholic Cemetery, Marystown, MN.
