Roy Smith age 81 of Outing died on July 28, 2012 at the Woodland Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd. He was born on January 11, 1931 in Des Moines, IA to Leonard and Harriet (Green) Smith. He married Marlene V. Olson on September 7, 1952 in Des Moines, IA. Roy was a retired Mobil Oil Corporation Employee with 34 years of service, serving the communities of Des Moines, IA, Omaha, Neb., Wichita, KS, Sioux Falls, SD and Detroit, MI. He retired to the Outing area in 1986 where enjoyed working at Land of Lakes Marine. He loved the Lord, loved his family and loved to fish. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marlene; 1 son, Kirk (Dee Lindeman-Smith) Smith of Outing and Jan (Kernan) Peterschick of Zimmerman; 1 sister, Dixie Parsons of Indianola, IA; 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his parents; son, Lance; granddaughter, Alexa; great grandson, Caleb and 1 brother, Ricky. Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at 2pm at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Outing. Friends may call on Tuesday at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby from 6 to 8 pm and on Wednesday 1 hour prior to the services at the church. If so desired memorial are preferred to Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Outing or the Salvation Army of Cass County.
