Stanley W. Kangas

April 10, 1935 — September 18, 2024

Stanley W. Kangas, age 89 of Crosby formerly of Deerwood, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2024 at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby.  He was born on April 10, 1935 in Brainerd to Stanley E. and Helen (Bodle) Kangas.  Stanley was a retired Potlatch employee with 36 years of service, and was a former president of their union.  He was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood.  He was an avid outdoors man, enjoyed his hunting and fishing trips.

Stan was survived by four daughters, Laurie (Steve) Gorecky of Deerwood, Amy (Larry) Fabini of Two Harbors, Sue (Todd) Sorensen of Brainerd and Wendy (John) Crane of Bemidji; one brother,

Kenneth “Kip” Kangas of Deerwood; two sisters, Nancy Johnson of Crosby and Gwynne (Fred) Bobich of Cohasset; nine grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.

Preceding Stan in death are his parents; his wife, Nancy in 2011 and one brother, John Kangas.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at the Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with Sharing of Memories at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be at the Scandia Cemetery in Deerwood.  Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
