Theodore E. "Ernie" Starkka

Theodore "Ernie" E. Starkka age 83 of Crosslake died on August 16, 2015 at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center. Ernie was born on May 28, 1932 in Ludden, North Dakota to Erikki and Maria (Hovisto) Starkka. He married Ellen Ahlberg on January 23, 1954 in Sisseton, SD. He is a retired owner of Ernie's in Crosslake, operating the station for 40 years.
Ernie is survived by his wife, Ellen; two sons, Ron Starkka of Aitkin, and Dan (Kathy) Starkka of Monticello; three daughters, Starr Jarvis of Pequot Lakes, Jean Starkka of Crosslake and Joan Nevin of Shawnee, OK; four brothers, Carl (Vicki) Starkka, Roy (Jerry) Starkka, Ralph (Cindy) Starkka and Raymond Starkka; three sisters, Ruth Helen (Ray) Koski, Gloria Fitch and Lorraine Dunlop; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are his parents; 1 son, Dennis "Oly" Starkka; two sisters, Violet Huro and Irene "Millie" Zupon.
Graveside services will be 11:00 am on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at the Pinewood Cemetery in Crosslake with full military honors given by the Crosslake American Legion Post. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
