Theresa Joan Oreskovich

Theresa Joan Oreskovich, 92, of Black River Falls, WI, and formerly of Crosby, MN passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2015 in her home in Black River Falls while under the care of the Black River Memorial Hospice and her family members.

Theresa was born July 10, 1922 in Crosby, MN to Italian immigrants Richard and Rosa (Ballone) Valentino. She was united in marriage to Frank Oreskovich on March 9, 1940 in nearby Brainerd, MN. They lived in the Crosby-Ironton area where she worked as a waitress at Jim's Lunch until the Armour #2 underground iron mine closed in 1967. They then moved to Crystal Falls, Michigan where she worked as a nurse's aide at the Crystal Falls Manor. When that underground mine closed, they moved to Black River Falls in 1969. Theresa then worked as a waitress at The Pines and in the radiology department at the Black River Falls Memorial Hospital while Frank worked as a Foreman at the Jackson County Iron Mine. Following her retirement from the Black River Falls Memorial Hospital, she volunteered for over 15 years at the Pine View Care Center. Frank preceded her in death on April 14, 2009.

In addition to working outside of her home, she filled her life raising her six sons, enjoying time with her daughters-in-law and family gatherings, harvesting wild rice, picking blueberries, baking, playing cards, stopping at Casinos, and working puzzles while watching the birds, squirrels, and deer at the feeders. Theresa loved doing things for her family, particularly spending time with her grand kids and great-grand kids, and was so proud of each of them. Theresa was truly a people person and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law: Roger (Julie) Oreskovich, Embarrass, MN; David (Linda) Oreskovich, Melrose, WI; Donald (Monique) Oreskovich, Hudson, WI; and Randy (Audrey) Oreskovich, Black River Falls, WI; brother, Richard (Joyce) Valentino, Black River Falls, WI; sister-in-law Beatrice Valentino, Crosby, MN; grandchildren Preston, John (Joy), David, Brandon (Dakota), & Hannah Oreskovich, Jill (Phil) Colsch, Sara (Jonah) Rostvold, and Michael (Jennifer) Bonam; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; many beloved nieces & nephews; her special friend Carol Recknagel; and other relatives and dear friends.

In addition to her husband, Frank, of 69 years, she was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Rosa, sons Bruce (Butch) and Robert, brothers Reno and Joseph, and sister, Anna (Dolly) Chambers.

Family and friends may call at the Torgerson's Funeral Home in Black River Falls, WI. Wednesday, February 18 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby, MN. Thursday, February 19 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 20 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Crosby, MN. Burial will follow at Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby, MN.
