Verne Emet Durant

Verne Emet Durant age 61 of St. Cloud died August 8, 2015 at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud. He was born on April 15, 1954 in White Earth to Charles and Rosella (Norely) Durant. He grew up in Minerva Township on the family farm. He attended grade school in Minerva and started high school in Bagley. He moved to Crosby to work and finish his senior year, graduating from Crosby-Ironton High School. He joined the Air Force and proudly served his country for four years. After an honorable discharge, he moved back to Crosby and Verne went to work for Anderson Brothers Construction. Verne worked until he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and could no longer work. He moved to the VA in St. Cloud when his sister, Lori could no longer able to take care of him. He was a resident of the VA Health Services for 30 years. He had a great appreciation for the VA staff and the activities. Verne was a avid Twins and Vikings fan. He attended as many Twins games as he was able and then was a TV fan until his life ended.

Verne is survived by three sons, Scott (Colette) Durant of Sauk Rapids, Terry Durant of Andover and Brian Durant of Aitkin; 1 brother, Wayne Durant of Brainerd; 2 sisters, Lorraine (Marv) Millam of Brainerd and Marlys (Buddy) Merschman of Shevlin; 4 grandchildren, Reece, Kiera, Gabe and Kendra.

Preceding him in death are his parents and 1 brother, Hubert "Huck" Durant.

Funeral services will be 2 pm on Sunday, August 16, 2015 at the Grace Chapel in Bagley (25514 State Hwy 92). Burial will be at the Minerva Township Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be on Saturday at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby from 5 to 7 pm and on Sunday 1 hour prior to the services at the church.
