 
            Wallace Gustav Steinke age 87 of Deerwood passed away September 2, 2010 at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby. Wally was born on January 6, 1923 in Cuyuna, Minnesota to Gustav and Sadie (Palm) Steinke. He was 1941 graduate of the Crosby-Ironton High School. On June 22, 1944 he married June Bisek at Aitkin. He worked as an iron ore analyst at Lerch Brothers Laboratory in Crosby for 25 years. When the Iron mines closed in 1968 he went to work as a property appraiser for Crow Wing County until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crosby. He is preceded in death by his parents. He enjoyed a variety of activities including hunting, fishing and following C-I sports activities, the Twins and the Vikings. He especially enjoyed his sons and grandchildren in sports and other activities. He will be missed by his wife, June; 4 sons and daughters-in-law: Gary and Carolyn (Hauble) Steinke, David and Rose (Rider) Steinke, Greg and Judy (LaBorde) Steinke and Tim and Teresa (Richards) Steinke all of Deerwood; 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, a brother, Warren and a sister and Brother-in-law; Marlys and Jake Ravnik all of Crosby. Funeral services will be 11 am on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crosby. Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby. Friends may call on Friday at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby from 3 to 6 pm and 1 hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday.
