William "Don" Gorfin age 90 of Crosby died on June 21, 2015 at the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby. He was born on May 29, 1925 in New York, NY to Max and Florence (Treloar) Gorfin. Don married Vilma G. Krmpotich on October 8, 1948 in Webster, SD. Don and Vilma moved many times from the West Coast to Crosby. Don finally found peace at his home on Serpent Lake, in a wonderful neighborhood (Peterson Creek Drive) with great people. He survived the invasion of the Canadians (party, party, party). He loved the lake with the loons, the eagles and fishing-but not the muskrats. He was a WWII Army veteran serving with the 746th Tank Batallion. Don was a member of the Myrin-James American Legion Post #443 of Ironton, The Order of Purple Heart, the DAV and VFW..
Don is survived by his wife, Vilma. Don and Vilma did not have children but enjoyed the large family of their best friends, Eve and Earl Bedard.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am on Friday, June 26, 2015 at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby. Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby with full military honors by the Myrin-James American Legion Post. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the services at the funeral home on Friday.
