William Hamdorf

William Andrew Hamdorf age 92 of Deerwood died May 7, 2011 at Aitkin Health Services. He was born February 12, 1919 in Deerwood Township to Fred and Dora (Scharrer) Hamdorf. Bill bought the original family homestead in Deerwood Township from in father in 1940, where farmed he until he retired. He married Ruth Alfs on December 30th, 1943 in Aitkin. He was a member and was baptized and confirmed at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Iron Hub. He is survived by his wife Ruth; 3 sons, Larry (Carolyn) Hamdorf of Aitkin, Duane Hamdorf of Maplewood, and Bruce (DeeDee) Hamdorf of McKinney, TX; 2 daughters, Bonnie "B.J." (Randy) Schwartzhoff of Haywood, WI, LaDonna (Richard) Hejny of Aitkin; 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. Preceding him in death are his parents; 1 brother, John Hamdorf and 1 sister, Emma Wedel. Funeral services will be 1 pm on Thursday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Iron Hub. Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby. Friends may call on Wednesday at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby from 6 to 8 pm and 1 hour prior to the services at the church on Thursday.
