William L. Selisker

William Lawrence Selisker, 74, passed away on June 5th, 2010 at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby, MN. He was born in Brainerd, MN on October 7, 1935 to Joseph and Gertrude Selisker. He graduated from Brainerd High School in 1953. He attended Hamline University in St. Paul, MN from 1953 to 1955. He married Shirley LaVoie in December, 1955. He joined the Army in 1955 and upon completion, enrolled at St. Cloud State University. He played basketball at Hamline and at SCSU. From 1960 to 1968 he was a teacher and basketball coach at Sauk Centre, MN, where two of his teams finished in third place in the State Tournament. He coached basketball at Crosby-Ironton from 1968 to 1981. His 1969 team finished in 3rd place in the State Tournament. He retired as a teacher from C-I in 1992. His career achievements include inductions to the Minnesota State Coaches Association Hall of Fame, Minnesota Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame, St. Cloud State Athletic Hall of Fame, Brainerd High School Athletic Hall of Fame and Crosby-Ironton High School Hall of Fame. He was a trustee at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Crosby. Bill was preceded in death by one son, Mark and by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, his children, Timothy (Stephanie), Burnsville, Krisann Gray (Tom) Crosby, and Gregory (Kristen), Brainerd; his 13 grandchildren: Sara, Brandon & Ashley Houge, Kelsie (Josh) Blume, Blake & Logan Selisker, Blaire & Brooke Selisker, and Abbrielle, Samuel, Molly, Elizabeth, and Steven Selisker; his siblings, Mary Jean Imgrund, San Diego, Robert Selisker (Helen) Coon Rapids, and Lawrence Selisker, Kansas City. A funeral mass will be held in the Herman Woock gym at Crosby-Ironton high school in Crosby, MN at 10:00AM on Wednesday, June 9th. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM on Tuesday night, June 8th at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Crosby with a rosary at 8 PM. There will also be viewing an hour before the mass on Wednesday at Crosby-Ironton high school.
