Anne Lynn (Hasskamp) Sambar, 73, of New Berlin, WI passed away on September 15, 2022 after a short battle with cancer at Elmbrook Hospital in Brookfield, WI.
Anne was born on September 22, 1948, in Brainerd, MN, to the late Robert and Donna (Denis) Hasskamp. She graduated from Crosby-Ironton High School in 1967. After high school she enrolled in an LPN program in Brainerd before applying for a flight attendant position with North Central Airlines at the urging of her sister, Mary Kay. The two became the first flight attendant sister team to work for the airline and were featured in the company magazine. While employed with North Central Airlines, she met her love of her life, Samir Sambar, who worked in catering. Anne and Sam were united in marriage on May 27, 1978 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Crosby. She worked as a flight attendant for 18 years.
Anne and Sam enjoyed traveling the world. They made multiple trips to Haifa, Israel to visit Sam’s family. Anne dedicated her life to living, laughing, loving and bringing joy to family, friends and strangers who needed compassion and support. Her selfless spirit of encouragement and generosity as a wife, sister, daughter, aunt, godmother, cousin and friend were a true blessing and gift from our loving God to us. Anne loved entertaining and was a warm, welcoming and gracious hostess. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, wonderful storytelling and cheerful, kind demeanor. Blessed be the memory of our Anne.
Anne is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Samir Sambar; sisters, Mary Kay (Kent) Lacy of Prior Lake, Roberta (Mike) Whitney of Blaine and Kris Hasskamp of Crosby, special family friend, Nancy Petroske; brother-in-law, Homer (Marianne) Sambar, sisters-in-law, Lily (Phillip) Khoury and Amira (Nabil) Sammour; nieces, Sara Anne (Mike) Kost (goddaughter), Ami (John) Stanton, Sumaya Anne (Mark) Sambar (goddaughter), Rana (Habib) Shehadeh, Iman (Ameer) Bechard, Hanan (Kareem) Haddad, Manar (Saher) Aburahme; nephews, Adam Johnson, Mark (Elle) Lyons, Michael (Esmeralda) Sambar, Rami (Ranin) Sammour, Ameer (Orawan) Sammour; great nieces and nephews, Brenyn Whitney, Katie and Brianna Kost, Ava and Jack Stanton, Thora Lyons, Maya, Lynn, Nabil, Adam and Aline Sammour, Eli and Sam Shehadeh, Nabil and Yara Bechara, Lilly and Talin Haddad and Raam and Arz Aburahme.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, baby son, “Love,” parents-in-law, Suleiman and Nadimeh Sambar; grandparents, George and Esther Denis and Fred and Laura Hasskamp.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Crosby. Visitation will be at St. Joseph’s on Friday, September 23, 2022 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. and on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.
