Carolyn Leona Swanson age 84 of Brainerd died on July 7, 2016 at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby. She was born on August 2, 1931 in Princeton to Julius and Florence (Crosbie) Toth. Carolyn married Raymond Swanson on April 29, 1950 in Big Lake.

Carolyn was a retired employee of Federal Cartridge in Anoka with 22 years of service. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Garrison and she was one of the founders of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Big Lake. Carolyn was an avid quilter, a great cook and a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Raymond; three sons, Robert (JoAn) Swanson of Deerwood, Richard (Carmen) Swanson and David (Mary) Swanson all of Big Lake; one brother, James (Pat) Toth of Rapid City, SD; sisters, Patricia Lueck of Eagan and Joyce Horvath of Milaca; brother-in-law, John Altenweg of New Brighton; sister-in-law, Irma "Lorraine" (Joe) Robinson of Lake Alfred, FL; twelve grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Catherine Swanson Cain; two sisters, Joanne Altenweg and Judith Peterson; one brother, William Toth and one brother-in-law, Jim Lueck.

Funeral services will be 11 am on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Garrison. Burial will be at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Big Lake. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church on Tuesday. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby. Memorials are preferred to Parkinson Foundation of MN (www.parkinsonmn.org).
