Harold Raymond O’Brien, age 88 of Outing died on October 20, 2021 at his home. He was born on March 15, 1933 in Shovel Lake to Melvin and Margaret (Beto) O’Brien. He was the 7th of ten children. In May of 1953 Harold was drafted into the U.S. Army. After serving in Korean and Japan, Harold was discharged in April of 1955. On June 1, 1957 he married Milea Mathilda Nichols. Harold was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Outing; the Fifty Lake-Crosslake American Legion, Post 500; and the AARP. Harold was an avid hunter, and was a member of the Outing Gun Club, serving 20 years as President; and was life member of the NRA. In 2002 he participated on the Village Inn Trap League Team.
Harold is survived by two sons, Allen O’Brien of Outing and Raymond O’Brien of Minneapolis; two daughters, Robin O’Brien of Remer and Lin Winters of Fort Sill, OK; one sister, Mary Blanchard of Blaine; and one brother, Robert O’Brien of Brainerd; six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Preceding Harold in death are his parents; his wife Milea; four brothers, Charlie, Joe, Eugene and Dan O’Brien; three sisters, Helen Holt, Loretta Olds and Dorothy Pfluger; one grandson, Toby O’Brien and one great grandson.
The family would like to thank his awesome care giver Wendy Hawley for all the care over the years.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 29, 2021 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Outing. Burial will be at the Pine Ridge Cemetery in Emily. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
