John Arthur Bukovich, age 76, of Lake Shore died on October 17, 2021 at the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby. He was born in Brainerd on May 1, 1945 to John and Marion (Kenyon) Bukovich. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in Vietnam from 1963 to 1967. John married Janice Marie Brady on August 5, 1993 in Lake Shore, MN. Retired Chief of Police in Lake Shore and Police Officer and Paramedic serving the Pequot Lakes, Nisswa and Crosslake areas, giving 27 years of service. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Crosby; was the founder of Toys for Tots in the Nisswa area; a former Fishing Guide for Northern Lake Guide Service, and enjoying tying fishing fly lures.
John is survived by his wife, Jan; son, Ronald (Cindi Greenwood) Bukovich of Blaine; two stepsons, Craig (Gina) Taylor of Nisswa and Eric (Tyra) Taylor of Baxter; two brothers, Robert Bukovich of Cottage Grove and James Bukovich of Crosslake; two grandchildren, Katie and Jonathon Bukovich and three step grandchildren, Riley, Zack and Alex Taylor.
Preceding John in death are his parents; and two sisters, Mary Carol Brodzinski and Barbara Johnson.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 3, 2021 at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Crosby. Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby with full military honors given by the Myrin-James American Legion Post #443, Ironton. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
