Oliver Steven Gutzman, 1 year old son of Trever and Jennifer (Reyes) Gutzman died on March 7, 2019 at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis. Oliver was born on March 21, 2017 in Crosby. Oliver was born with a condition called Biliary Atresia, which required a liver transplant in February of 2018. Complications with bile duct obstructions required many hospital stays and procedures. Post-transplant lymphoma disease and immune thrombocytopenic purpura developed, takings Oliver’s life. Oliver fought hard for life. In two years he developed an interest in balls, cars, sports and loved learning new things by being read to. His smile was more contagious every day.
Oliver is survived by his parents, Trever and Jennifer Gutzman of Ironton; a sister, Olivia Gutzman of Ironton; paternal grandmother, Lisa Gutzman of Crosby; maternal grandparents, Wayne and Roxsana Sanders of Crosby; paternal great grandmother, Rose Stimac of Pequot Lakes; aunts, Kristie (Ryan) Chapman, Jocelyn Straka and Hailey Sanders and uncles, Felix (Rachel) Reyes and Tyler Hendrickson.
Preceding Oliver in death is his maternal great grandmother, Antonia Santiago and paternal grandfather, Maynard Hendrickson.
Funeral services will be held on 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2019 at the Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood. Burial will be at the Woodland Cemetery in Irondale Township. Visitation will be on Friday at the Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday one hour prior to the services at the church. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
