PHILENA LEA WYNN

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Philena, age 54, who left us on September 12, 2023. She was born on June 10, 1969 in Crosby.  Philena was a beloved mother and sister and a cherished friend to many. She touched the lives of all who knew her with her kindness, humor, generosity, and talent.

Philena graduated in 1987 from Crosby-Ironton High School and attended Wadena Technical College to become a cosmetologist.  She took a job at Image 2000 in Brainerd right out of beauty school. In 1997, she and two partners opened New Concepts Salon. In 2003, she set out on her own and purchased Main Street Hair Design in Ironton which she owned and operated for the next 20 years. In 1993 she gave birth to a son, Evan, her greatest source of pride and the love of her life.  She enjoyed traveling, socializing, cooking and crime shows, NASCAR, and was happiest when relaxing in the sun by a lake or pool.      

She is survived by her son, Evan (Samantha Henrichs) Wynn of Cuyuna; brothers Richard (Lisa) Rosier of Crosby, Dale (Peggy) Rosier of Grand Rapids; sister Denise (Rob) Schmidt of Trommald, and many nieces and nephews.  She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and clients.

Philena is preceded in death by her parents, Dennis and Leora “Chic” Wynn.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all those who have offered their support and condolences during this extremely difficult time.

“No farewell words were spoken, no time to say goodbye, you were gone before we knew it, and only God knows why.”

A Memorial Gathering will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at the Myrin-James American Legion Post in Ironton. Burial was at the Woodland Cemetery in Irondale Township.
