Thomas Turk Obituary

Thomas Eugene Turk, age 77, formerly of Deerwood, passed away after suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease on December 6, 2021 at Brookside Senior Living in Montevideo, Minnesota. He was born on June 1, 1944 in Brainerd, Minnesota to Albert and Mildred (Anderson) Turk. He graduated from Crosby-Ironton High School in 1962. He began working for Hallett Construction Company during the second half of his senior year and worked there as Data Processing Manager for just under 25 years. He also served in the National Guard. He married Sylvia "Chick" Tomson in 1966 and from that union came two sons. They made their home on the south side of Serpent Lake. When the Hallett home office closed in 1986, Tom was offered a position with the company in Boone, Iowa, but he didn’t want to ask his family to move to another state. In 1987, he accepted a position with Breezy Point Resort in Breezy Point, Minnesota. In 1998, he and a colleague set out on their own and started a property management company. He worked there until his retirement in 2017. He later married Denise Clark and they resided in Montevideo, Minnesota until his death.

Tom loved the outdoors. Snowmobiling and family camping trips were favorites of his in the 1970’s and 1980’s. Hunting, however, was truly his lifelong passion. Tom enjoyed his work in every incarnation of his working career.

Tom is survived by his two sons; Jeff Turk of Deerwood, and Brandon (fianceĢ Sally Oren) Turk of Crosby; one granddaughter, Cassandra (Mitch) Gutzman of Circle Pines; three grandsons, Colten Turk of Fargo, North Dakota, Cayden Turk of Crosby, Carsen Turk of Crosby. One great- grandson, Liam Gutzman of Circle Pines; daughter- in-law, Amy Lundgren of Crosby; brother-in-law Rudy (Cinde) Tomson of Crosby; sister-in-law, Francis Turk of Rochester, Minnesota. He is also survived by his former wife and mother of his children, Chick Turk of Crosby, his current wife Denise Clark of Montevideo, one niece and many nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, Gary Turk; and his parents-in- law, Gerald and Julia Tomson.
