Vernon Skrivseth Obituary

Vernon Lavando Skrivseth, 99, passed away on January 9, 2021 at his home with family by his side.  Vern was born on November 7, 1921 to Arthur and Lillian (Anderson) in Minneapolis, MN.  Vern graduated from Roosevelt High School and entered the Army Air Core fighting in WWII in North Africa and Italy.  He married Naomi Harms on November 30, 1945 in St. Joseph, MI.  They settled in St. Louis Park where he worked for AT&T for 30 years.  They had five children Dianne Day (Dennis), Marilyn Skrivseth (Bill Barry), Janet Walkoviak (Harvey), Craig Skrivseth (Kathy), and Glen Skrivseth (Stephanie).  Vern and Naomi retired to their lake home near Deerwood, MN.

Vern was an active member of the Lions Club where he served as president and received the Helen Keller award.  He was also active member of the Sons of Norway, as he is 100% Norwegian.  He enjoyed time on the water on either sailboats or his antique Chris Craft, and sharing Lefsa he made with others.

Vern is survived by four of his children, 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.  Vern was preceded in death by his wife Naomi, his parents and three brothers, Kenneth, Milton, and Walter, a sister Florence Robinson and daughter Dianne.

A memorial service will be held in early summer with burial at Crystal Lake cemetery in Minneapolis.  In lieu of flowers donations to the Lions Club of Deerwood or Sons of Norway in Brainerd would be appreciated or to the charity of your choice.  Koop funeral home is assisting with the arrangements.
