Woodrow Banks, age 102 died at his home on May 12, 2021. He was born in Breathitt County, Kentucky to David and Mollie (Clemans) Banks. Woodrow married Verna Richter on August 18, 1946 in Crosby. He was a retired miner with 29 years of employment with Hanna Mining, Butler Brothers and National Steel Mining Companies. He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Crosby. Woodrow enjoyed his dairy farm and gardening.
Woodrow is survived by three sons, Scott Banks of Crosby, Bruce (Lucy) Banks of Bowlus and Greg (Susan) Banks of North Plate, NE; two daughters, Molly (Craig) Seeley of Cedar Rapids, IA and Sandy (Jim) Barnhart of Ironton; one sister, Paulette Knutson of Pequot Lakes; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Preceding Woodrow in death are his parents; his wife, Verna; granddaughter, Sara Barnhart and 14 siblings.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 21, 2021 at the Bible Baptist Church in Crosby with full military honors given by the Myrin-James American Legion Post #443, Ironton. Burial will be at Pine Ridge Cemetery in Emily. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
