Karen M. Prekker (Magnusson) born January 7, 1925 to Axel and Katarina Magnusson in Sveg, Sweden and passed away peacefully December 11, 2016 in Eagan, MN. Preceded in death by husband, Harold, (Bud), sons: Gary, Gene and Harold (Swede), grandchildren: Christopher Kraby, April Beck and Michelle Stroup; siblings: John Edwin Magnusson, Mae Erickson, Greta Olson, Evelyn Miller, Ingrid Magnusson, Esther Munson. Survived by children Bill (Heidi) Prekker, Charlie Baxter, Jody (Dave) Kraby, Karen (Butch) Randall, Kathy (Rick) Cottrell, Jeri Ann (Dennis) Sowada, June Beck (Mike Sorenson), Sue Lampton (Roger Willocks), Patti (Sam) Smith and daughter-in-law, Linda Prekker; 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
In 1929, the family emigrated to the United States; where Karen became a U.S. citizen in 1950. Karen was a loving, caring person, always wanting to help others and known as “Mom” to many. Karen loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends. She was always ready with a cup of coffee and a shoulder if needed or a big warm hug. She enjoyed gardening, tending flower beds, fishing and helping others. Karen loved to sew and made more than a hundred baby blankets to give to the needy. Karen’s kindness, humor, laughter, love and many good times together is already missed.
Funeral services will be 12:00 pm Saturday, May 27, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Deerwood. Burial will be at St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery in Sauk Centre.
